Great picture, I love the way both Pokemon are posed.

The lighting has been attempted, but it's not consistent. For example, on Sceptile's back the light seems to be coming from the left, but on it's head, it's coming from the right. Also on Sceptile's leg, there shouldn't be any shine at all. Smugleaf has its own shadow, but Sceptile doesn't. Only the hind leg has a shadow. These can easily be corrected, so it's not too bad. The shading can also be done with more contrasting colors, and over a bigger area. The shading seems to be done rather sparingly, and it's hard to notice it till you actually look at it. You'll have to dare to use a darker green for lighting, and dare to make your shadows larger. Experiment a little, and you'll get it right.

The background doesn't seem that right though. The highest branch seems to be really far away, and somehow just disappears behind the branch in front of it. The highest branch is also shaded quite dark, and it seems to be very far behind. This makes Sceptile's position a little awkward-looking. It might be just me though. I also cannot imagine how the branches will come and intersect together like that in trees. The vines also don't really fit as they look like solid shapes. It fits as a border, but it wouldn't be part of the picture itself.

I like the texture though. The branches have a very nice etched look to it, and it must've took sometime to imagine poses like these. Most people don't dare to draw parts of pokemon they don't see in the sprites. This means you get loads of front views, and very little peeks at the back. Great job on the picture.

And sorry if the front part seemed harsh. I was trying to give a little advice on how your future works can be improved.

P.S. I see you didn't want to use the word Snivy in your title. So I put Smugleaf on the critique instead.
